A senior Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) worker has appealed Sar Sanghchalak Mohan Bhagwat to abolish BJP’s Schedule Caste Morcha arguing that existence of such an unit was against the ideology of RSS, which does not make affiliates on caste lines.
In a letter to Bhagwat, Shant Prakash Jatav, who is also the former national training in-charge of the BJP’s SC wing, has appealed either to abolish the wing or reform it into another body, which has participation of people from all castes.
BJP has SC wing at both central and state levels. Its office bearers hold responsibility to approach those from Schedule Caste, redress their grievances and associate them with BJP.
In the letter, Jatav, who belongs to Ghaziabad district of UP, has pointed out that there was no division in RSS on the caste lines and there was no separate wing for SCs in the organisation. Jatav has said that his grandfather and father too had been associated with RSS and they never found any discrimination on caste lines in RSS’s shakhas and training camps.
“In that situation, existence of SC Morcha in BJP, which is the political wing of RSS, shows that party does not practice what it preaches. Doing politics by division on caste lines might be ideology of Congress and Leftists but not of RSS and BJP,” the letter reads.
Contacted, Jatav explained that a ‘Harijan Morcha’ was formed in Bharatiya Jan Sangh in 1972 for upliftment of SCs. Later, in 1980, the SC Mocrha was created in BJP with the same objective.
“But, today SC wing is being used for politics only. Number of SCs who got benefit of welfare schemes is very less as compared to their total population. Division on caste lines and issue of reservation are being used only for political purpose at present,” Jatav, who is also running a movement against reservation, said.
Jatav have been associated with RSS from an early age and had been a member of BJP’s SC Morcha for past several years. He was also associated with the wing as national training in-charge. “I am active member of BJP and RSS at present,” said Jatav who claims that he had started shakha in his area in Ghaziabad.
Meanwhile, SC Morcha’s national in-charge Dushyant Kumar Gautam rubbished Jatav’s arguments and said that such organisational fronts were formed in BJP to provide a platform to people to raise their voice and to increase party’s mandate in all sections of the society.
Gautam also said that Jatav’s anti- reservation opinion was wrong. He claimed that Jatav was no more associated with the party. However, BJP’s Ghaziabad district president Ashok Moga said that Jatav is member of BJP in Ghaziabad for long time and he had been giving maximum time to party’s Central office in Delhi for past few years.
